When you first move into a new area, it can be the last thing on your mind – working out what public transport options are available, where is the nearest bus stop and what discounts are available? We’ve put all the information you may require below, click on each section to find out more. Also, to the right, you will find a list of useful links for public transport operators in the area and travel planners.

You will find that First Bus service 66 operates between Ipswich and Martlesham. Latest service updates and information can be found on their website.

[su_spoiler title=”Bus Passes” style=”fancy”]There are a selection of local incentives throughout Suffolk to promote travelling by public transport; including bus passes. If you are of pensionable age, you will be entitled to apply for an age-related bus pass which allows free off-peak bus travel. To apply or to find out further information, please visit the Suffolk on Board website. Additionally, you can apply for a bus pass if you have an eligible disability.
[su_spoiler title=”Young Person Bus Discounts” style=”fancy”]For those aged between 16 and 19, you can apply for the Suffolk Endeavour Card. This card is free to apply for and gives you at least 25% off the cost of bus travel. The only requirement is that your journey either starts or finishes in Suffolk. Apply for the card through the Suffolk on Board website.
[su_spoiler title=”Claim your FREE voucher” style=”fancy”] As a resident of Brightwell Lakes, you are entitled to either a £150 bus voucher for local services to Ipswich with First Buses or a £150 train voucher for Greater Anglia services.

Your nearest train station is in Woodbridge Rail Station which is approximately 4.2 miles away (a 22-minute cycle ride).
Woodbridge Rail Station has 13 cycle storage spaces.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to drive to the train station, there are over 72 car parking spaces available.
The station offers step free access from the car park to Platform 1 for trains towards Lowestoft but Platform 2 towards Ipswich does not have step free access from the car park. Instead, step free access is available via the level crossing on an unmarked road off Quayside, approximately a 4 minute walk from the car park.
You have access to Derby Road Train Station in Ipswich which is approximately 4.8 miles away (a 34 minute cycle ride). Derby Road Train Station has 6 cycle storage spaces.
Alternatively another train station nearest to you is Ipswich Rail Station that is the closest mainline train station, providing direct services to London, Norwich, Cambridge, Felixstowe and Lowestoft which is approximately 7.3 miles.
Ipswich Rail Station has 200 cycle storage spaces.
There is step free access to all platforms via lifts.

[su_spoiler title=”Railcards” style=”fancy”]When using the train for leisure purposes, railcards are a great way to receive discounts on the cost of rail tickets. There are various options available, such as; 16-17 saver, 16-25, 26-30, two-together, disabled person or the senior railcard. Most railcards cost £30 to purchase for a year, however, you will typically save 1/3rd off rail fares. Find out more information and how to apply on the Railcard.co.uk website.
