When you first move into a new area, working out what public transport options are available, where the nearest bus stop is, and what discounts are available can be the last things on your mind. We’ve put all the information you may require below; click on each section to find out more. Also, to the right, you will find a list of useful links for public transport operators in the area.
[su_spoiler title=”Buses” style=”fancy”] Your closest bus stops are Long Reach located along Clapham Hill Road, a 4-minute walk from home.
You will find that Stagecoach service 400 and 401 operate between Estuary View and Canterbury City Centres via Whitstable. Both services operate up to every 15-minutes Monday-Saturday and Sunday up to every 20-minute. Latest service updates and information can be found on their website here.
Additionally, National Express coach services 007 and 022 stop on Clapham Hill Road at the Whitstable Clapham Hill coach stop. The 007 service travels between London Victoria – Dover via Whitstable and the 022 service travels between London Victoria – Ramsgate via Whitstable. [su_spoiler title=”Senior Bus Pass” style=”fancy”]There are a selection of local incentives throughout Kent to promote travelling by public transport; including bus passes. If you are of pensionable age, you will be entitled to apply for an age-related bus pass which allows free off-peak bus travel. To apply or to find out further information, please visit the Kent County Council website. Additionally, you can apply for a bus pass if you have an eligible disability.

[su_spoiler title=”Young Person Bus Discounts” style=”fancy”]Students in years 7 to 11 who live in Kent can apply for a KCC Travel Saver that can save up to 50% on the cost of travel to and from school. It costs £550 for the year, or £560 if you choose to pay in 8 monthly instalments. The pass costs the same no matter when you apply, so be sure to apply before the school year starts for better value. Find out more here.
For those aged between 16 and 19, you can apply for the KCC 16+ Travel Saver. It costs £600 for the year, or £610 if you choose to pay in 8 monthly instalments and same as above, it’s the same price no matter when you apply, so we recommend applying before the school year starts for better value.

Your nearest train station is Whitstable Train Station which is approximately 2.5 km away (an 8-minute cycle ride).
Whitstable Train Station has 32 cycle storage spaces, a bike stand and tyre pump to keep you on the move. Alternatively, if you need to drive to the train station, there are over 42 car parking spaces available.
The station offers step free access to Platform 1 for trains towards London via the station forecourt off Old Bridge Road. Step free access to Platform 2 for trains towards Margate can be found via the entrance off Railway Avenue. There is no step free access between the platforms at the station.
Tickets can be purchased from the train station, however, where possible, we would suggest purchasing tickets in advance to receive the best prices! [/su_spoiler]
[su_spoiler title=”Railcards” style=”fancy”]When using the train for leisure purposes, National Railcards are a great way to receive discounts on the cost of rail tickets. There are various options available, such as; 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Two-Together, Disabled Persons or the Senior Railcard. The Disabled Persons Railcard costs £20 for 1 year or £54 for 3 years, all others cost £35 for 1 year and can save you 1/3rd off most rail fares.
