When you first move into a new area, public transport might be the last thing on your mind. Are there trains or buses, where is the nearest bus stop and what discounts are available? There are stops adjacent and opposite the bottom of Hill Farm Road and also opposite and adjacent to Halesworth Town Park. Locations such as Beccles, Bungay, Southwold and Aldeburgh can be accessed from these stops and First Bus operate the most frequent services through Halesworth from stops opposite and adjacent to Halesworth Town Park.
For those that have school-aged children, there is the 99A Coastal Clipper that runs to Bungay High School from Halesworth Town Park. Find the current timetable here.

[su_spoiler title=”Bus Passes” style=”fancy”]There are a selection of local incentives throughout Suffolk to promote travelling by public transport; including bus passes. If you are of pensionable age, you will be entitled to apply for an age-related bus pass which allows free off-peak bus travel. To apply or to find out further information, please visit the Suffolk on Board website. Additionally, you can apply for a bus pass if you have an eligible disability.
[su_spoiler title=”Young Person Bus Discounts” style=”fancy”]For those aged between 16 and 19, you can apply for the Suffolk Endeavour Card. This card is free to apply for and gives you at least 25% off the cost of bus travel. The only requirement is that your journey either starts or finishes in Suffolk. Apply for the card through the Suffolk on Board website.

[su_spoiler title=”Claim your bus or train tickets!” style=”fancy”]As a resident of Blyth Vale, you are entitled to either 2x one month bus passes for the 99A Coastal Clipper service or a one month season ticket for train services from Halesworth to Lowestoft. [su_spoiler title=”Train Travel” style=”fancy”]Your nearest train station is in Halesworth which is approximately a 10-minute walk away. There are 19 sheltered cycle spaces available which are covered by CCTV, and 3 disabled parking spaces. There are frequent services from Halesworth to Ipswich and Lowestoft. Tickets can be purchased from the train station, however, where possible, we would suggest purchasing tickets in advance to receive the best prices![/su_spoiler]
[su_spoiler title=”Railcards” style=”fancy”]When using the train for leisure purposes, railcards are a great way to receive discounts on the cost of rail tickets. There are various options available, such as; 16-17 saver, 16-25, 26-30, two-together, disabled person or the senior railcard. Most railcards cost £30 to purchase for a year, however, you will typically save 1/3rd off rail fares, and have access to all sorts of dining and entertainment discounts.
