When you first move into a new area, working out what public transport options are available, where the nearest bus stop is, or what discounts are available can be the last thing on your mind. We’ve put all the information you may require below, click on each section to find out more. Also, to the right, you will find a list of useful links for public transport operators in the area and travel planners.

[su_spoiler title=”Bus Travel” style=”fancy”]Your closest bus stops are located along Boundary Road next to the junction with Turnpike Road. Locations such as Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall, Freckenham, Beck Row and Lakenheath can be accessed directly from these stops. The bus stop on the south side of the road is sheltered and helpful for those travelling to Newmarket.

Service 357 by Mulleys Motorways also provides services to Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds, Freckenham, Tuddenham, Cavenham and Risby four times a day. Bus 956 covers the same route once in the mornings and evenings for school days only. For up to date information on local bus services please Suffolk on Board .

In addition to these local bus services, there is also a daily National Express coach service to London. This service can be picked up from Mildenhall or Newmarket and is usually a cheaper alternative to the train. Find out more on the National Express website.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Bus Passes” style=”fancy”]There are a selection of local incentives throughout Suffolk to promote travelling by public transport including bus passes. For those of pensionable age or those with an eligible disability, you will be entitled to a bus pass that allows free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. [su_spoiler title=”Park & Ride – Cambridge and Norwich” style=”fancy”]Travelling to Norwich or Cambridge by car? Both cities provide great Park & Ride facilities.

For Cambridge, your most suitable Park & Ride location would be on Newmarket Road whereas for Norwich you can use the easily accessible Thickthorn Park & Ride. At Newmarket Road Park & Ride it’s free to park up to 18 hours and you only pay for the bus journey with return tickets for as little as £3.50 for short hops or £3.00 to the city centre. Located to the east of Cambridge just off the A14 and with over 800 parking spaces, it takes only 20 minutes to reach by car from Hunter’s Chase. With bus frequencies every 10 minutes and a bus journey that only takes 17 minutes to reach the city centre, the Newmarket Road Park & Ride is ideal for fast daily commutes into Cambridge, as well as weekend leisure trips to the city. The most convenient Park and Ride for Norwich is Thickthorn (NR9 3AU) with more than 700 car parking spaces and buses running every 15 minutes for most of the day Monday to Friday from 6:35 to 19:15 (20:15 on Thursdays), 7:00 to 18:45 on Saturdays and 9:15 to 16:55 on Sundays. Journey times into the city centre take approximately 15 minutes and an adult anytime ticket costs from £3 with discounts for after 10am and 12pm rides. [su_spoiler title=”Train Travel” style=”fancy”]The closest train station to Hunter’s Chase is located in Kennett. Greater Anglia train services operate directly from this station to Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich which takes approximately 34, 11 and 47 minutes respectively. These services run every two hours, every day of the week. You can view the live train times from Kennett station here. Reaching Kennett station by bicycle would take approximately 15-minutes. However, for those that wish to drive to the train station, there are 12 free of charge parking spaces available.

Travelling by train is a great option if commuting to Cambridge. A single peak-time train ticket to Cambridge is £9.20, an Anytime Return ticket is £14.20, off-peak day return is £11 and discounts are available when purchasing season tickets (either weekly, monthly or annual). Tickets can be purchased through the station ticket machine, online or from Greater Anglia mobile app. [/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Train Travel Discounts & Railcards” style=”fancy”]Railcards are a great way to easily save money on the cost of train travel – particularly for leisure purposes – with up to 1/3 off!. For £30* per year (£20 for a Disabled Persons Railcard) National Rail offers a variety of Railcards, giving discounts for train travel, including:

✔ 16-25 Railcard â€“ for those aged 16-25, or mature students (26+) and in full-time education
