When you first move into a new area, working out what public transport options are available, where the nearest bus stop is, or what discounts are available can be the last thing on your mind. We’ve made this easier for you by putting all the information you may require below.Â
Your nearest bus stop is on Fordham Road adjacent to Centre Road, approximately a 3-minute walk. From this bus stop, the 112 service operated with Lords Travel links between Ely and Newmarket. Runs approximately every hour Monday to Saturday. Please note that service changes may occur during public holidays or outside school term times.

There are incentives throughout Cambridgeshire to promote travelling by public transport including free bus passes; for those of state pension age, or with an eligible disability, you are entitled to a bus pass that allows free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. In Cambridgeshire, this means free travel Mondays to Fridays after 9.30am until the last bus and all day on weekends and bank holidays. This includes the Cambridge Park & Ride, Guided Busway and the X5 services. To apply for a free bus pass visit the Buses section on the Cambridgeshire County Council website or call 0345 045 1367 alternatively, you can also receive free help at your local library.
Your nearest train station is the Soham train station. The station is approximately 2.4km away from Miller’s Gate, and just an 8-minute bike ride away. Soham train station provides a regular route to Ipswich, Peterborough, Ely and Cambridge. The station offers 30 sheltered bicycle storage spaces, monitored by CCTV but without any car park spaces.Â
The station also offers services such as pre-purchase collection and smartcard top up with a ticket machine.Â
Another train station close to Miller’s Gate is Ely, approximately 9.6 km from Miller’s Gate, this is a 40-minute cycle ride or a 15-minute bus / car journey. There are 330 cycle storage spaces with wheel racks, alternatively, there are 131 car parking spaces at the station with more located within the town centre.
Ely train station is well connected with direct services to Cambridge, Birmingham, Norwich, Stansted Airport, Kings Lynn, Colchester and London Kings Cross.
Thameslink allows folding cycles on their trains at any time while regular cycles are allowed on any non-peak hour services, all free of charge.
