Public Transport

When you first move into a new area, the last thing on your mind is probably what public transport options are available, where the nearest bus stop is, or what discounts are available. To help you with that, we’ve put all the information you may require below. Also, to the right, you will find a list of useful links for public transport operators and travel planners in the area.

Buses

Your closest bus stop is located along St Neots Road, approximately a 10-minute walk away. The Stagecoach Service 4 to Cambridge and Cambourne runs through these adjacent stops around every 30-minutes throughout the day, Monday to Friday. The eastbound bus stop in the direction of Cambridge is a covered shelter, however, the bus stop in the westbound direction towards Cambourne, is a flag and pole.

Mobile tickets

Take away the hassle of remembering cash! You can now purchase bus tickets through the Stagecoach Bus mobile app which is free to download and use. Alternatively, Stagecoach buses now take contactless card payments too.

Bus Passes

There are incentives throughout Cambridgeshire to promote travelling by public transport including free bus passes; for those of state pension age, or with an eligible disability, you are entitled to a bus pass that allows free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. In Cambridgeshire, this means free travel on Mondays to Fridays after 9.30am until the last bus and all day on weekends and bank holidays. To apply for a free bus pass visit the ‘buses section’ on the Cambridgeshire County Council website or call 0345 045 1367 alternatively, you can also receive free help at your local library.

The Cambridgeshire Termrider student bus pass offers those 18 or under, in full-time education, unlimited bus travel during term times (including evenings and weekends) and it is valid within the Cambridgeshire Megarider area which includes Caldecote. Check the Stagecoach website for more details.

Park & Ride

If you’re travelling into Cambridge, why not try out Park and Ride services? Park and Ride offers a sustainable way to travel, making it easy to park your car and enjoy a relaxed journey into town using dedicated bus lanes that bypass the congestion. There is Madingley Park and ride with services operating every ten minutes Monday to Saturday. ( A 9-minute car journey away). Trumpington Park-and-Ride also has a fast guided Busway route to Addenbrooke’s and Cambridge train station. If you commute regularly, you can benefit from weekly, monthly or annual tickets!

Day tickets for the Park & Ride into Cambridge cost £3.50 and season tickets can be purchased to save money. Up to three children can travel free with each fare-paying passenger. For more information check the Cambridge Park & Ride website.


Train Travel

The nearest train station is located within Cambridge City Centre, approximately 14km away, a 21-minute car journey away or Cambridge North station, approximately 15km away, both 21-minute car journey.

Both stations are well connected with services to London, Norwich and the Midlands. Cambridge station has 425 chargeable car parking spaces and 2,850 cycle storage spaces. Cambridge North station has 540 car parking spaces and 1,000 cycle storage spaces.
